Dear Friends of the Kolbe Center,
Pax Christi!
In our research we continually discover new ways in which our understanding of the origin of man and the universe affects every area of our lives. Recently, Irish psychologist Martin McManus wrote an article for the Kolbe website on the effect of Evolutionism on psychology which documents the disastrous consequences of the acceptance of microbe-to-man evolution on the treatment of psychological problems. One of the problems that Mr. McManus highlights in his article is the way that faith in evolution has led psychologists to look for genetic or biochemical causes for every kind of psychological problem and to seek solutions through the prescription of drugs rather than through a correct understanding of the Church's teaching on faith and morals and through obedience to that teaching in every area of life. In his article, he writes:
Psychoanalysis has been replaced by speculative biochemical theories about psychological distress. Despite the scant objective evidence for the biochemical claims of psychiatry, Western societies have seen the mass drugging of their populations over the last half century. The rate of diagnosis of psychiatric illnesses has tripled over the last 30 years in the USA. In some Western countries, e.g. USA, over 1 in 5 people are on some form of drug for mental health issues. Recent statistics show that this over-medicalisation of life is not just an American problem. Statistics from Ireland show that there has been a 500 per cent increase in psychiatric drug prescriptions for children over the last decade. The over-prescription of psychiatric drugs is a serious issue and there is more and more evidence to show that these drugs do far more harm than good.
Catholics who are trying to hold fast to the Faith of our Fathers while remaining obedient to those in positions of rightful authority in everything but sin must intensify our efforts to support other Catholics who are providing needed services so that the Kingdom of God can continue to flourish in the midst of the insanity and corruption that have become mainstream in most of the Western world. There are times when counseling can be extremely helpful, but It is becoming increasingly difficult to find Catholic counselors who have not had their judgment distorted by evolution-based modernist errors. I encourage readers of this newsletter to visit Mr. McManus's website and to recommend him to fellow Catholics who may be in need of counseling. Although he lives in Ireland, he can conduct counseling sessions via Skype with clients in any part of the world. Martin's website is www.truthandfreedomtherapy.com and he can be contacted through his website or at his email address: truthandfreedomtherapy@outlook.com.
Our Lord Jesus Christ assures us that "If you continue in My Word, you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free" (John 8:32). On his website, Martin McManus observes that one of the reasons why he rejected modernism and embraced the traditional Faith of the Church and the traditional liturgy of the Roman Rite was that he noticed that Catholics who did this before him enjoyed a freedom from sin, error, and selfishness, that set them apart from those who continued to adhere to evolution-based philosophies, whether of an atheistic or a theistic kind.
Please continue to spread the word about our DVD series "Foundations Restored" and encourage your friends and relatives to visit the website www.foundationsrestored.com and to view the first two episodes gratis.
Through the prayers of the Mother of God, may the Holy Ghost lead us all into all the Truth!
Yours in Christ through the Immaculata in union with St. Joseph,
Hugh Owen
P.S. Please let us know if you are interested in attending our leadership retreat in the first week of August at the S.O.L.T. retreat center in Corpus Christ, Texas, and especially if you are interested in helping us to produce a play with the young people who attend the retreat on the life of Venerable Maria of Agreda, the "Blue Nun." We also plan to produce a series of videos for young people between the ages of 5 and 12 on the doctrines of Genesis 1-11, so please let us know if you would be interested in that project as well.
P.P.S. Patrick Coffin, who was for years a host on Catholic Answers, is now doing his own programing. He interviewed Dr. Richard Fitzgibbons about his book "The Habits of a Healthy Marriage, A Handbook for Catholic Couples." Patrick mentioned a canon law that is supposed to be implemented at the time of separation, but added that listeners could look it up. He wasn't sure of the canon number. Bai put together a video in which she tells Patrick about the canon laws he was looking for. Please write to Patrick and ask him to let Bai talk to his listeners about canon law on divorce and her separated faithful network.

Mr. Coffin was apparently annoyed that fourteen people cut and pasted the above information into Facebook messages after receiving that information from Bai. When you write to him, please put the information into your own words, if possible. You can view Bai's five-minute video with excerpts from the interview on the book "Habits of a Healthy Marriage" and her telling Patrick Coffin about the canons HERE.
